M5 motorway open again following incident that led to the death of a Gloucester woman

A woman from Gloucester died in the collision that caused a northbound stretch of the M5 motorway to be closed yesterday, Gloucestershire Police have confirmed,

The motorway was closed in all directions for a short time after the incident at around 8am on Thursday morning.

A full crash investigation took place meaning that while the southbound carriageway was able to open during Thursday morning, the northbound lanes remained closed for much of the day.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed that the road had fully reopened - and that the slip road to junction 12 was back in use - at around 7pm on Thursday evening.

The woman who died has yet to be named,

Emergency services attended the scene and the air ambulance was called but the woman was declared dead a short time later.

Her next of kind has been informed. The driver of the other vehicle involved suffered non-serious injuries in the incident.

Gloucestershire Constabulary are asking for any witnesses to the incident who have yet to speak to the police to call 101 and quote incident 67 of January 2.
