M&S store may be demolished

The M&S Home store on the Kingsditch Retail Park in Cheltenham may be knocked down and replaced with two new retail units.

Savills have made the application for permission to Cheltenham Borough Council on behalf of Prudential Assurance Co. Ltd.

The letter says: "The application proposes the part demolition of the existing M&S Home unit and extension of the remaining floor space to create two new retail units."

These will have "a near identical quantum of retail floorspace to that which already exists."

"The proposed retail units will be used for the sale of "bulky goods" with only a minor amendment to the already permitted retail use of the existing floorspace at the M&S Home unit to enable the sale of fitted kitchens and associated products."
