M&S could see clothing and home sales fall by 90%

Sales of clothes and homewares at Marks & Spencer could be down 90 per cent during March and April.

As the coronavirus crisis hits retailers hard, analysts have predicted a 60 per cent fall in sales until June, as reported by Retail Gazette.

With clothing and home stores closed over the coming weeks, the retailer is likely to see a 90 per cent clothing and home sales drop for March and April.

Marks & Spencer is still trading from standalone Simply Food stores, including several across the county, and its Food Halls within larger stores, like those in Gloucester and Cheltenham. In common with other food retailers, it has seen increased sales of food in recent weeks.

The company is continuing to fulfil online orders for it home and clothing lines.
