Local building firm to deliver Gloucester Rugby training facility

Gloucester Rugby Club has chosen a well-known local building contractor to deliver its brand-new training facility, which will be good news for local sub-contractors and construction workers in the city.

E G Carter & Co Ltd have been selected to build the multimillion pound training facility next to the Kingsholm stadium in Gloucester over a 14-week period.

The firm will be transforming the former SLG Beauty warehouse into an elite high-performance training centre.

The facility includes a 470 square metre gym which includes six Olympic lifting platforms, a rehabilitation centre with both hot and cold recovery systems and a dedicated recovery gym. There is also an indoor high performance training pitch and office and medical facilities. Construction is expected to start imminently, with the sports facilities ready to use in July.

Mark Harries Associate Director at E G Carter & Co Ltd said: "We are extremely pleased to be working in partnership with Gloucester Rugby Club. The Gloucester Rugby brand is world renown and as a long-established Gloucester-based construction company it's a privilege to be providing services to them."

Gloucester Rugby CEO, Lance Bradley, said: "We are very excited to be able to share this news with the fans and are looking forward to starting work on the development in the coming weeks.

"The development reinforces our commitment to Gloucester and is just the beginning of exciting strides forward for Gloucester Rugby, unifying the playing and commercial function in the coming years.

"Of course, the fans are of utmost importance to the Club and we want them to be the first to experience the new facilities. We'll be inviting all Club members who have donated to the club to an exclusive launch event later in the year, as well as thanking them by displaying their name on a wall within the facility."

The project has been designed by architects, The Development Studio, who have ensured the facility is modern and contemporary.

Michael Magri, Managing Director, said: "We have been really impressed with E G Carter & Co Ltd since they started working on this exciting first phase for Gloucester Rugby. TDS are pleased they have joined the team and look forward to delivering this project together."

Works will be complete by the end of August 2021 to enable the players to start using their new training space ready for the new season.
