Lloyd’s Pharmacy closures begin in Gloucestershire

A Lloyd's Pharmacy in the county is set to close this week, while others will follow later in the year.

Earlier this year, it was announced that all 237 Lloyd's Pharmacies within Sainsbury's stores would close, with Cheltenham closing tomorrow (April 18th).

The pharmacies at the Sainsbury's stores in Barnwood and Gloucester Quays are both scheduled for closure in July.

In February, Lloyds also announced that it was to sell off a 'significant number' of its community pharmacies, with the Wotton-under-Edge branch set to close on May 23rd.

The store has been hit by problems over the past couple of years, including enforced closures due to a lack of qualified pharmacists and a smell of sewage, due to problems with the drains.

Resident Sue Hunt said: "This is doing our High Street no good at all. A prescription is something that you collect while shopping, or using the library or meeting someone for coffee. We are having to go elsewhere for prescriptions and getting what we need there as a consequence."
