Llanthony Secunda Priory needs you!

Llanthony Secunda Priory Trust is on the lookout for new trustees and a new chair to join its board, as it moves into the next exciting phase of the priory's reformation.

As the £4m development and restoration of one of the most historical sites in the city nears completion, the Trust's role is set to change. After 10 years of work to save the priory building, the Trust is moving towards using its cultural value to create a heritage venue for Gloucester. Building, conservation and restoration work is well underway and set to finish in summer 2018.

New trustees will have the skills and experience relevant to operating an exciting heritage venue, extending and complementing the current trustees.

Jeremy Williamson, chairman of the board of trustees, said: "To date the Trust has been on a rescue mission and I and fellow trustees have had skills that matched that requirement but, as we move forward, we recognise that new skill sets are required. It is for this reason that, after 10 years we are putting in train this recruitment exercise."

Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council, said:  "Llanthony Secunda Priory is a real heritage jewel in the city and I'm very proud of the restoration which is currently underway. We've been very fortunate to have had a very capable, committed and enthusiastic set of trustees driving this forward. I hope we will be able to find more people in that mould as the Trust moves on to the next stage of its evolution."

The Trust is currently seeking new trustees and a shadow chair, to be appointed from among those new trustees. Trustees should be available to take up their roles insSpring 2018. The shadow chair will take up the position of chair at the AGM in late 2018. Trustees will serve a three year term of office, with the option to continue for another three years.
