Living wage goes up
By Richard Wright | 15th November 2021
More than 300,000 people who work for employers signed up to the so-called Living Wage will get a pay rise.
Almost 9,000 employers - including half the FTSE 100 - are signed up to the voluntary agreement and big household names like Aviva, Nationwide, Fujitsu, Brewdog and house builders Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon.
The Living Wage Foundation, which sets the rates, has now raised the hourly rate to £9.80 and the higher £11.05 in London.
That's an increase of 20p an hour for people in Gloucestershire.
The amount is set higher than the government agreed National Minimum wage which is £8.91 an hour for adults. That is due to go up to £9.50 in April.
