As part of their 21-date Summer 2020 tour, pop superstars Little Mix were planning to make a stop at Kingsholm stadium on Thursday, July 9.

Likewise, Irish popsters Westlife were expected to perform at the home of the cherry and whites on Saturday, July 12 as part of the group's Stadiums in the Summer Tour.

But the ongoing coronavirus pandemic will mean that neither of these concerts will go ahead in 2020.

Event promoters Chuff Media said: "Unfortunately, due to the current coronavirus pandemic that is impacting us all, Little Mix and Westlife have cancelled their summer concerts at Kingsholm in July.

"For those who have already purchased tickets, there will be a refunding of the ticket price. This will be processed automatically within the next 28 days. You do not need to contact the stadium to arrange a refund."

In a statement, Little Mix said: "Following the latest government advice Little Mix are extremely sad to announce the cancellation of their upcoming UK Summer tour.

"The band are heartbroken not to perform this Summer, but the health and safety of all Little Mix fans is of course their No.1 priority."

Boyband Westlife added: "To all our UK fans - it is with great sadness that despite best efforts, our shows scheduled for the UK in June and July must be cancelled.

"Those who have been on the Westlife journey with us know how important performing is to us but also know that safety must come first and foremost in delivering a successful tour.

In the meantime, we ask everyone to stay home, stay safe, and keep playing your part in fighting the spread of this virus."
