Lidl piloting click & collect

Discount supermarket Lidl is trialling a new click & collect service, as it moves gradually into online shopping.

The retailer has stores across the county, but it could be a while before the trial reaches Gloucestershire - as it is currently only running at a number of stores in Poland, as reported by Charged Retail.

Polish shoppers can now order their items online to be picked by Lidl staff, and pay for them on collection, at a time of their choice. Lidl has also begun introducing its own payment system, Lidl Pay, at some of its stores in Poland.

Until now, Lidl has only offered its Winnicalidla brand wines and spirits for sale online in both the UK and Poland.

The trial follows Lidl's introduction earlier this month of a cloud computing service  for third party retailers, set to rival Amazon Web Services.
