Team behind multimillion pound Gloucester Rugby training deal

Any top team on the pitch is only as good as the team behind them and a Gloucestershire solicitors' firm is proud of the role it played in securing Gloucester Rugby's new multimillion pound training facility.

BPE Solicitors, with headquarters in Cheltenham, is a Business Partner of the club, and the woman heading up the negotiations for the lease is a keen supporter of the club.

Jo Bewley, Partner and Head of Property Services at BPE Solicitors, grew up in South Wales and has rugby in the blood. She has been a season ticket holder at Gloucester for twenty years.

She said: "It's a huge social event as well as offering good business opportunities. We go with friends and mix it with business when we need to.

"Working on something like this, you have a real sense of achievement for the club, to get them something that they have been exploring for some time."

Jo led a team that included senior associate Kate Fountain to secure the new facilities in a deal that she described as 'pretty smooth'.

The move sees Gloucester Rugby, who have trained at Hartpury University for the past ten years, training just a short walk from their Kingsholm Stadium.

The club is transforming the former SLG Beauty Warehouse, on the Kingsholm Business Park, into a state-of-the-art training pitch, gym, medical facilities and offices. It will also boast a 500-strong hospitality venue.

As the club's legal advisor, BPE advised and acted in respect of lease negotiations for the new training facilities.

Jo said: "As the training facilities for the team, it was vital to ensure that the property was adequate, both for their current and future needs and we advised Lance and the team in relation to the lease which will see the club's training based in its new home for the next ten years."

Lance Bradley, CEO at Gloucester Rugby said: "It has been no secret that we have been exploring new training facilities for a while. We continue to invest heavily in the development of both the senior squad and the academy and the training facility is a crucial part of this development.

"The new premises at Kingsholm Business Park includes state of the art equipment and has been configured to ensure the optimal use for our players.

"I'm really pleased with the proactive, commercial advice and support provided by Jo and the team to enable us to get this key project over the line ready for preseason training this summer."
