Leading headteacher is to step down

One of Gloucester's longest serving and most respected headteachers is to retire.

Amanda Chong (pictured) has announced she is stepping down as head of Ribston Hall High School.

After 35 years as a member of staff at the school and headteacher for the last 20 years Mrs Chong will leave in April 2018.

She said today: "Ribston Hall is a very special organisation and I have been privileged to have been part of it for most of my teaching career.

"I was very honoured to be appointed headteacher in April 1998 and I know that my supportive leadership has helped hundreds of students and colleagues fulfil their potential."

Ribston Hall High School is a selective school for girls with a mixed sixth form. It converted to an Academy in June 2011 and now has around 850 students.
