DON'T WASTE THIS CHANCE: Last call for Gloucestershire incinerator fund applications
By Laura Enfield | 29th July 2024
There are less than three days left to apply for a grant from Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility Community Fund.

Community groups have until 5pm on Wednesday (July 31) to submit their applications.
The fund is provided and managed by Urbaser- the contracted operator of the Javelin Park incinerator site.
It has put out a final call for applications from those those interested in securing money to support projects that deliver environmental, social, and community benefits.
Grants are allocated annually to local groups in Hunts Grove, Hardwicke, Quedgeley, Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon, Haresfield, Harescombe, Standish, Moreton Valence, and Whitminster.
They are available for projects that enhance the quality of life in these communities by addressing critical needs and fostering sustainability.
Responsibility for the evaluation of applications and the allocation of the fund sits with committee representatives from the community liaison group (CLG).
It is composed of residents and parish, district and county council members, who also meet regularly to review progress and issues at the facility.
Urbaser also undertakes minor administrative duties for the application process.
The fund was launched in 2019 with a pot of £25,000 when operations at the incinerator commenced.
However, the total value has increased each year by the Retail Price Index and will continue to do so throughout the life of the project.
Dan Pearson, general manager of the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, said: "We are proud to support initiatives that make a tangible difference in our local communities.
"The community fund is a fantastic opportunity for groups to gain the financial backing they need to bring their projects to life.
"We encourage all eligible organisations to apply before the deadline."
