Land sold for community garden

The new owner of a patch of land in Broadway will lease it to the community as a community green space.

Cheltenham-based commercial property specialists, KBW, negotiated the sale of the 3.55-acre parcel of land to local resident Arlene Davies.

Davies will lease the land to the Broadway Village Gardens project, a charitable community benefit society dedicated to creating a sustainable, inclusive green space for the local community.

The project, which started as an idea in May 2024, plans to develop the site with communal gardens, biodiversity projects and a community orchard, based on feedback from a village-wide consultation.

In the coming months, the society will conduct surveys and apply for planning permissions to begin the development process, aiming to implement the community's top three voted projects by late spring 2025. Several community days are also planned to encourage local involvement.

The sale forms part of the Keil family's Broadway portfolio, which KBW's commercial agency team has been managing the disposal of.

Richard Knightley of KBW advised the Keil family and led the negotiations for this sale.

He said: "KBW is proud to have facilitated a transaction that preserves the land for the enjoyment and benefit of Broadway's residents and visitors, securing it as a community asset for future generations to come."
