A Korean restaurant in Gloucester city centre wants to expand after less than six months to keep up with demand.
The boss of Soul ‘N Seoul in Westgate Street wants to transform the first floor into more seating for customers.
Mr Manjit has applied to Gloucester City Council for permission to change the use of the first floor and build a set of internal stairs.
A statement by Elevation One Building Design said: “The occupier is in urgent need of more space for visitors and making use of the first floor with new access by means of this proposed staircase will provide both more space and better facilities.”
The restaurant, which employs 16 full and part-time staff, only opened at the end of January , serving up an array of dishes such as bulgogi featuring beef or chicken marinated in a signature sauce, Korean fried chicken, kimchi fried rice and Korean omurice.
It can currently sit less than 30 people and the first floor is used for storage
The plans show 40 seats on the first floor and new male and female toilets and 26 seats on the ground floor.
The building at 42 Westgate Street was formerly home to Hubble Bubble Cafe. It is not listed but sits within a conservation area.
The proposed works are mainly internal and the applicant said the improvements and refurbishments will “enhance the site and allow for the site to remain protected for many more years”.
