Key appointment for Golden Valley Development

The Golden Valley Development has appointed an experienced communications professional as its new communications and marketing lead.

Gethin Evans is originally from Swansea and has more than 20 years' experience in senior roles in a range of industries.

Gethin Evans said: "I will be responsible for everything under the marketing and communications banner, including liaison with business, the cyber sector and education.

"We want to ensure we've got cyber at the core of the education offering at all levels in Cheltenham, with Gloucestershire College and University of Gloucestershire, as well as primary and secondary, and looking to ensure apprenticeships are part of the offering."

Gethin's appointment comes at a key time for the multi-million pound Cheltenham Borough Council project, as it moves from concept to reality.

Paul Minnis, senior commercial manager, said: "We've already seen how important this is to Cheltenham and the region, particularly in terms of local economic growth, skills development and the future creation of jobs. Communicating this and engaging with our many and varied stakeholders is critical to our success. Gethin has a strong pedigree in marketing and communications and has already contributed significantly to our brand and progress."

The Golden Valley Development will create around 12,000 new jobs and 3,700 homes for the county. It will also be home to the National Cyber Innovation Centre, helping to lead the development and growth of the UK's cyber sector.
