John Lewis to use leather from Waitrose farms

All the leather used by John Lewis to make its own-range sofas and chairs will be taken from farms that supply Waitrose beef.

The move is one way the department store chain, which has a store in Cheltenham, is reducing its environmental impact across supply chains, as reported by Retail Gazette.

John Lewis already uses wool from Waitrose farms, which would otherwise have been wasted, in its mattresses.

The partnership said running a department store and a supermarket gives it a unique ability to connect the two businesses.

It said the leather used in its sofas and chairs is British sourced and higher welfare, which is distinct from anything else on the market.
