John Lewis stops click and collect

John Lewis has suspended click and collect services from its department stores in response to the tightening of coronavirus restrictions.

Customers will be able to pick up John Lewis orders from the company's Waitrose supermarkets.

Executive operations director Andrew Murphy said: "We've listened carefully to the clear change in tone and emphasis of the views and information shared by the UK's governments.

"While we recognise that the detail of formal guidance has not changed, we feel it is right for us to take proactive steps to further enhance our Covid-security and related operational policies."

Waitrose has joined in other leading supermarkets in saying they will refuse entry to customers not wearing masks without a medical exemption.

Waterstones stopped click and collect services from its book shops at the start of the current lockdown.
