John Lewis to invest in tech roles

John Lewis Partnership is hiring more than 150 new tech staff, as it invests heavily in digital.

John Lewis and Waitrose are looking to recruit engineers to bring innovation and expertise across a range of technologies including cloud platform, software, native app, delivery leads and data engineers, as reported by Retail Gazette.

The specialist roles are designed to help keep John Lewis, which has a store in Cheltenham, and Waitrose, which has stores in Cheltenham, Cirencester and Stroud, as leaders in omnichannel.

Between them, John Lewis and Waitrose websites attract more than 55 million visits every month. Online sales now make up almost 70 per cent of John Lewis sales and nearly 20 per cent of Waitrose sales - up from 40 per cent and five per cent respectively two years ago.
