Jobs at risk at fashion retailer

Uncertainty hangs over the future of a well-known fashion brand after news broke it is lining up administrators.

The women's clothing brand which has a store in Gloucester, employs an estimated 2,000 staff nationally.

It also had a store in Stroud's Merrywalks Shopping Centre, until it closed last week.

According to reports Select has filed a court document outlining its intention to appoint an administrator, a move which prevents its creditors from calling in debts for ten working days.

Retail news website Retail Week said it had seen the document, which aims to give the business's management some breathing space.

Last year Select resorted to a company voluntary liquidation in a bid to cut its rent bill.

Select has a store in Eastgate Shopping Centre, Gloucester.
