Jess's Ladies shine bright with 82nd Great Taste star

Great Taste food and drink awards has announced its stars of 2020 and one Gloucestershire producer has come out on top.

Out of 12,777 products sent in from 106 different countries, Jess's Ladies Organic Farm Milk was awarded the highest accolade of two 3-star Great Taste awards for it's single and double cream-with it's extra thick cream, kefir and semi-skimmed milk also picking up the coveted awards. Astonishingly this is Jess's Ladies 82nd Great Taste Stars.

Products were judged by 144 of the most discerning palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, food writers and journalists from all over the world. Great Taste is one of the most coveted of all food and drink awards. It is not being about smart packaging or clever marketing - it's all about taste.

The Ladies are very proud of all of their 82 great taste awards, which every single one of its products has achieved, including an elusive golden fork award for its cream in 2016.

Judges described it's double cream this year as "luscious, rich, luxurious. Possessing a flavour profile that is surprisingly broad- magical" with the single cream being described as 'extraordinary-the colour rich, how cream really should taste-delicious, with body and character.''

Jess's Ladies Luxurious yoghurt was described as a ''simple beauty. Packed with a citrus punch that hits the palate, and then follows with gorgeous dairy cream. A clean velvety texture. Luscious mouthfeel and a great consistency. Just gorgeous'' whilst their kefir was praised for its ''pleasant, clean full bodied creamy mouthfeel-with a pleasant tang and underlying sweetness.''

The Hardwicke based dairy company, which was launched 14 years ago by Jess and her dad Mike Vaughan, supplies stockists throughout Gloucestershire, Gloucester Services, the midlands and southwest-as well as attending Stroud Farmers Market each Saturday.

Their kefir is currently available for nationwide delivery direct from the farm through their website, with plans to include all products for nationwide delivery this side of Christmas. Jess's sister Sophie now also helps run and develop the business as it continues to build on its success as a family run enterprise.

Jess said: ''We take huge pride in our produce and satisfaction from the positive feedback we receive about our products. Developing new products as well is also central to make sure they are as perfect as possible - our kefir has been a huge success and also won stars.

I'm not sure when we set off 14 years ago on a quest to survive with our small herd in organic farming, buying second-hand equipment and converting a shed on the farm, we thought any of the accolades we have picked up along the way were possible.

"We do the very best we can everyday-and produce the best produce we possibly can. It is a huge amount of hard work but very rewarding. I like to think we have done our ladies proud by telling their story and allowing them to shine through in the best possible dairy produce."
