James Hopkins Trust celebrates 30th birthday

More than 120 supporters and local businesses came together to mark the momentous occasion at the Gloucester base of a much loved charity.

The James Hopkins Trust was the host, laying on a celebratory hog roast for guests in its gardens at Kites Corner in Barnwood.

The event marked 30 years since the foundation of the trust, which was set up by Vance and Heather Hopkins in memory of James Hopkins, to care for children with life threatening or life limiting conditions.

The date also marks what would have been their son James' 32cnd birthday.

Established in 1989, the trust has helped well over 600 children and continues to provide over 1,500 respite hours per month for severely disabled babies and children up to the age of five.

Ria Heap, community and volunteer manager at the trust, said: "Thank you to the many of our friends from the past 30 years that joined us at Kites Corner, for the celebrations. It was a truly wonderful occasion, very special."

The trust has expanded substantially since its founding, now with their own bank of nurses, a purpose designed multi-sensory respite centre and gardens to provide night and day care as well as holiday clubs.

James Hopkins relies almost entirely on donations. To find out more about the trust and how to donate click James Hopkins Trust .
