It's time to enter Gloucester 10k

Entries are open for this year's Gloucester 10k on June 26, with organisers urging Gloucestershire business people to take part.

Organised by Davies & Partners Solicitors and Gloucester Quays Rotary Club, the race has raised more than £60,000 over the years for charities including Young Gloucestershire, Heart Heroes and to the local branches of MIND and CLIC Sargent.

Predominantly a flat route, the race takes runners on a sightseeing tour of the city including Gloucester Cathedral, the quays, the docks and canal, before ending at Gloucester Park.

This year's charities have been selected as Gloucester Foodbank and the Great Western Air Ambulance.

Race director and partner at Davies & Partners Nigel Tillott said: "We are gearing up for this years Gloucester 10k on 26th June. The event is wholly run by volunteers and over the years we have raised over £60,000 for Charity . This year all proceeds will go to the Gloucester Foodbank and the Great Western Air Ambulance.

There is plenty of friendly local rivalry in the race, including a corporate challenge and an inter-running club competition.

Mr Tillot said: "It is now time to get those entries in whether as an individual or a business team of 4 or more.

"We will have a new winner of the business challenge this year as multiple winners Fasthosts aren't competing, so come on businesses time to compete and throw down the gauntlet to your competitors and customers!"

Now in its eight instalment, the first Gloucester 10k was launched as a community event after the failure of an earlier commercial event.

There will be a goody bag for all runners including technical t-shirts, medals and goodies.
