Inspecs have cautious vision after Norville purchase

Inspecs, the eyewear firm which bought the manufacturing arm of Gloucester opticians Norville, said it remains cautious about the year despite a "positive start to the year".

The Bath-based designer, manufacturer and distributor of frames and optically-advanced spectacle lenses acquired Norville's lens maker business from administration in July.

In a trading update, the group reported revenues of $67million for the first three months of the year.

The statement said: "While this performance marks a positive start to the year, the Board remains cautious on 2021 as Covid-19 remains prevalent across the world."

As well as Norville, Inspecs bought German eyewear supplies Eschenbach Holdings in December.

Retail arm Norville Opticians, who operate nine shops across Gloucestershire, was bought independent opticians The Hakim Group, in June.
