The collaboration between Gloucestershire firms Versarien and Superdry - announced yesterday - will enable new technology to be introduced into clothing manufacture and boost jobs in the county.
Speaking exclusively to Punchline Gloucester, Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, said: "Hopefully, this will be a long and meaningful relationship and we can get graphene into almost everything they do."
Versarien, which recently moved its manufacturing base to the Forest of Dean, has been developing the use of graphene - the atom-sized carbon material - in a range of products ranging from concrete and tarmac to planes and car body construction, and now clothes.
Neill Ricketts said: "We want to make lighter, stronger more environmentally-friendly clothing and Superdry is a great name to do it with."
The pioneering technology will introduce graphene's thermal and moisture management properties into Superdry's fashion garments.
Under the deal, Superdry gains access to Versarien's scientists and laboratories in Manchester and Cambridge to speed up innovation, enabling new products to be brought to market.
Neill Ricketts added: "For us it's about scaling up. It's about getting more people and more machines and becoming a thriving part of the Forest of Dean and bringing prosperity to the county and putting the county back on the map."
Versarien shares peaked at 37.30p at yesterday, a five day rise of nearly 20%.
