Industry award for Cheltenham family business

Guardian Preservation Services LLP has been named a Contractor of the Year by national trade body, the Property Care Association (PCA).

The company, based on Queens Road in Cheltenham, was announced the winner of the Damp and Timber category for small to medium businesses.

Owned by Tim and Hannah Herbert, Guardian Preservation Services offers solutions and advice to remedy issues in properties with damp and timber. They also specialise in basement conversions.

Sister company, Guardian Waterproofing, is a structural waterproofing contractor for commercial and residential premises.

Managing director Tim Herbert said: "The whole Guardian family is delighted to receive this award from the PCA. It reflects our team's commitment to delivering a high-end professional service to customers.

"We aim to consistently offer thorough technical, cost-effective advice. We are very proud of our qualified team and we will be holding a party to celebrate this achievement and thank everyone at Guardian for their dedication and hard work."

Established in 1977 by Tim's parents Chris & Jane Herbert, Guardian remains a family firm with ten staff working across the South West, the Midlands and nationwide.

The company has previously won PCA Awards for innovation following the 2007 floods in Gloucestershire.

They have also won student of the year (CSRT), employee of the year 2015 & 2019 and were highly commended for project of the year, and 2019 award-winning apprentice Nick Edwards has progressed through the firm with a recent promotion to contracts manager.

Director Hannah Herbert added: "This award is particularly timely as we approach our 45th year of trading next year.

"The Guardian reputation for consistently thorough, professional services has fuelled our growth across the Southwest and, with a committed, dynamic team, we have great aspirations for growth over the next 12 months.

"We've got lots of exciting things in the pipeline and we're looking to solidify our position as the 'go-to' company for Waterproofing in the South West."

Every autumn the PCA presents 'Contractor of the Year' awards to members based on their annual audit.

Steve Hodgson, chief executive of the PCA, said: "The talent and skills within our industry are hugely important to the economy, to the construction of vital infrastructure and to home-owners across the UK.

"I'd like to personally congratulate the team at Guardian for the professionalism and quality service that is recognised with this award."
