Iconic British brand set to open Gloucester Quays store

An iconic British brand is set to open a new outlet at Gloucester Quays.

Outdoor wear brand Barbour have posted job adverts for staff to work at a new outlet in the Quays with a start date pencilled in for September.

Adverts have been posted for a full-time retail store manager, a full-time store supervisor and part-time retail assistants.

Barbour is famous around the world for their quilted jackets that are in their words "the epitome of British style."

Set up in the late 19th century in South Shields by Scotsman John Barbour as an importer of oil cloth, the brand became famous for producing waxed cotton motorcycling suits and jackets.

The company is still based in the North East, making around 25,000 jackets annually at their South Shields factory.
