How is Gloucester doing? It's time to find out
18th January 2018
Business leaders are to be given an insight into the how the economy of Gloucester is performing.
The independent think tank, the Centre for Cities Research, produces an annual report on the UK's cities, ranking them in areas such as employment and value of exports.
Gloucester MP Richard Graham has invited the Centre for Cities Research chief executive Andrew Carter to visit Gloucester and share the 2018 results and rankings, giving an assessment of how the city is doing.
The event takes place at Shire Hall, Gloucester at noon on 2 February and a limited number of free tickets are available on a first come first served basis by e mailing katie.barnett@parliament.uk
Mr Graham said: "The Centre for Cities Research is widely recognised for providing the best independent analysis of what's happening in our cities today. They've developed a formula to analyse data on how a city is performing, and continue to adapt this.
"We won't agree - or necessarily be pleased - with everything they say about us, but understanding what we are as a city, warts and all, is vital if we want to achieve my ambition of being the best small city in Britain. So do come and hear what they think and ask Andrew questions."
Andrew Carter said: "I look forward to sharing our insights with Gloucester - we've already shown that Gloucester is the tenth fastest growing city by population and this year's research will expand on many of our key themes."
