Housebuilder team completes challenge for cancer charity

Staff members from housebuilder Bellway have raised more than £4,200 for charity after taking part in the Cotswold Way Challenge 2021.

The team of three from Bellway's South West division embarked on the 100km trek which formed a full loop from the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, in aid of Cancer Research UK, which is Bellway's nominated group charity.

They successfully completed the two-day challenge - which took place at the end of June - within the 33-hour time limit and are now celebrating their fundraising achievements.

Adam Sturgeon, senior buyer for Bellway South West said: "After a tremendous effort by everybody who took part in the Cotswold Way Challenge, it's incredibly rewarding to know that we have not only completed the challenge but managed to raise so much money for Cancer Research UK.

"The walk of more than 62 miles in just two days was a tough challenge but we supported each other really well as a team all the way to the finish line."

Cancer Research UK has been Bellway's nominated national charity since 2016, and in that time the company has raised almost £2million to support the life-saving research which is conducted by the charity.

Dan Holland, regional director of Bellway South West said: "I am very proud of the team for taking on this epic trial and the determination among the group to complete the course was admirable.

"Of course, the primary reason for committing to the Cotswold Way Challenge was to continue our longstanding support for Cancer Research UK and all the vital work that it does. We're extremely grateful to everyone who has sponsored us, and people can still make a donation if they wish to do so."
