Housebuilder given permission to build 141 more homes

Plans submitted to Tewkesbury Borough Council to build more houses at Pirton Fields in Churchdown have been approved.

Permission has been granted for Ashberry Homes to build a second phase of 141 homes at the site, in addition to the 97 homes currently under construction.

Pirton Fields is said to be a partnership development between Ashberry Homes and sister company Bellway, which is providing a total of 465 homes on land off Cheltenham Road East in Churchdown.

With approval granted, this will increase Ashberry Homes' share of the site to 238 units, with Bellway building the other 227.

A total of 163 homes across the site will be earmarked for affordable housing, either for rent or shared ownership.

Carly Maidment, sales manager for Ashberry Homes, said: "Homebuyers have expressed much enthusiasm for the house types that we are building at Pirton Fields. Securing planning permission for a second phase of homes within the joint development will ensure we can continue to meet this strong demand.

"Our partnership with Bellway is also bringing millions of pounds of fresh investment into the public services used by the people of Churchdown.

"Together we are providing £2.7m for the construction of a new primary school and another £1.7m towards additional facilities for secondary education at Chosen Hill School. A further £765,000 is being provided to Tewkesbury Borough Council to fund improvements to transport infrastructure in the area."
