Hot favourites to win top curry chefs award

The Spice Lodge in Cheltenham is in the running to win an award for the finest South Asian restaurant in the UK.

Each year MPs nominate restaurants for the Tiffin Cup in a celebration of South Asian food. It also raises money for charity.

The Spice Lodge has been nominated by Cheltenham MP Alex Chalk.

He said: "I am delighted that the nomination for the Spice Lodge has been accepted and they will be flying the flag for Cheltenham in this year's Tiffin Cup.

"Over the next few weeks, mystery diners will be visiting each of the nominated restaurants, including the Spice Lodge, to choose the regional champions.

"This is such a prestigious competition and my fingers are crossed for the Spice Lodge to win the regional final. If they're successful then we'll be bringing them to the House of Commons for the grand final."

Chairman of the Tiffin Club, Keith Vaz MP, said: "After the overwhelming success of last year's competition we are looking forward to another chance to sample some of the best offerings of Indian food in Britain.

"I wish the Spice Lodge the best of luck in the competition."
