Horse rider thrown during collision with van

Police in Tewkesbury are appealing for the driver of a van to come forward following a collision involving a horse rider last week.

Emergency services attended the A4019 at Coombe Hill at 9.55am on Tuesday 7 September after it was reported that a horse rider and white Luton van had collided.

It was reported that a number of horses were crossing the road when a van was attempting to overtake.

One of the horses became spooked and collided with the van and officers believe this may have happened due to the vehicle being too close.

The rider of the horse was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a suspected leg injury after being thrown off and the horse sustained bruising.

The driver of the van left before police arrived and officers are asking them to come forward so that their details can be taken as well as an account of what happened.

A number of motorists were in the area at the time and anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is also asked to get in contact by completing the following online form and quoting incident 129 of 7 September: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/

You can also call police on 101 and quote the same incident number.
