HMV to close this week

It looks like Gloucester's HMV store is set to close on Saturday, if posters in the window are to be believed.

Signs at the stores say that 'everything must go' in a sale ahead of the closure.

The closure of the King's Walk store comes as part of national closures, after the music chain went into administration last month.

Manager for King's Walk Gloucester, Peter White, said: "HMV has been a really good tenant of ours for the past 20 years and has always been very popular.

"Like many retailers it has suffered against online competition, but it has also had to deal with the changing market place, with more and more people choosing to stream music and films.

"We are really sad to see them go, but we've had strong interest from potential new tenants due to the planned redevelopment. I'm very optimistic that we can find the right replacement for this unit."

It's not yet clear when the Cheltenham store will close, but it is likely to be sooner rather than later.
