Head of GCHQ stepping down

The director of Cheltenham-based intelligence agency, GCHQ, is stepping down.

Sir Jeremy Fleming has held the position since 2017, as reported by The Times.

Work has already begun to find a replacement and Fleming has confirmed he will remain in place until the summer.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4 recently, he said he hoped he could be replaced by a woman or someone from an ethnic minority, "to show there's a difference at the top".
