Have your say on plans for new 2,750-home community

A public consultation is being held on plans to build a huge new community on the edge of Gloucester.
Taylor Wimpey is proposing to build a 2,750-home development on land south of Gloucester known as Whaddon Grange, which falls just within Stroud district.

The community would also include new secondary and primary schools, community facilities with potential to include new healthcare provision, local centres, a new modal interchange to enable sustainable travel into central Gloucester and a new network of green infrastructure.
The development would be on the other side of the railway line to Kingsway with the A4173 and M5 on the eastern and southern side.
Taylor Wimpey says the scheme would prioritise walking, cycling and access to public transport, through a network of internal walking and cycling routes.
Contributions and support to the sustainable transport measures on the A4173 transport corridor include a major improvement scheme for the St Barnabas junction.
New homes structured around a network of green infrastructure and open space including a new valley park along the route of the Daniels Brook. There would be a green buffer to Whaddon village and St Margaret's Church.
There would also be the creation of new children's play areas and recreational walking routes throughout the site.
Conor Flanagan from Black Box Planning, who are hosting the consultation on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, said: "The site has been long identified as a suitable location for housing growth so we're pleased to be launching this public consultation on our proposals to deliver new homes alongside community infrastructure and open space, including a new parkland along the route of the Daniels Brook.
"Our proposals are emerging in response to the site being identified in the submission draft Stroud Local Plan as a suitable and sustainable location to help address local housing needs.
"We encourage people to take a look at the consultation website or pop along to our event and to provide us with their views on local issues that the development could help address in the community."
The community drop-in events are being held on Friday 8th September between 2pm and 7pm and Saturday 9th September between 9am and 1pm at St Michael's Hall, 12 Robert Raikes Avenue, Tuffley, Gloucester.
