Gunfight at Gloucester prison

An invitation to a gunfight at a prison might not appeal at first glance, but bear with us - we think you might like this a lot.

Gloucester Prison is to become the site of a new leisure activity, before the planned redevelopment of the historic buildings.

The disused jail, first opened in 1791, is owned by specialist developers City & Country.

Planners approved a scheme to transform the site, including 202 apartments, in December last year. Work is expected to begin in 2020.

Now UCAP Airsoft has announced its latest airsoft combat game arena, code named 'UCAP Vendetta' will be coming to Gloucester this February.

Airsoft is a team shooting sport, in which participants shoot each other with plastic bullets fired from replica air weapons called airsoft guns.

The company offers adrenaline-filled airsoft combat experiences, in a wide variety of unique and unusual venues across the UK.

A statement on their Facebook page said: "Working with our development partners, we have just signed a contract giving UCAP Airsoft exclusive use of former HMP Gloucester.

"We looked at it some time back, but it was taken by a prison tours company who provided security and daily use. When they pulled out, we got the call and signed up on the dotted line.

"This place is massive. We have use of all wings, the admin, healthcare and seg, education and resettlement, workshops and the cook house."

Games begin on Sunday, 10 February and are bookable by online pre-order only, with a limited number of tickets available.
