Green tourism award for Cheltenham hotel

The Queens Hotel in Cheltenham has been awarded a Gold Green Tourism Award.

The award recognises and supports eco-friendly achievements of tourism businesses, with the Gold award representing the very highest standards.

Initiatives introduced by the historic hotel include reducing energy use, minimising food miles, promoting biodiversity and adopting a sustainable outlook at all levels of the business.

It has also worked on protecting and supporting staff and customer health and wellbeing.

The Queens Hotel was one of the first purpose-built hotels in Europe. It was originally opened in 1838, the same year as Queen Victoria's coronation, and was named in her honour.
