Mel en route to Scotland and a world record

Gloucestershire paralympian Mel Nicholls is on day five of her world record bid.

Mel is travelling from Land's End to John O'Groats by handcycle. The current female world record is 11 days and Mel is on course to do it in nine.

She set off from Kendal this morning and has already conquered the Shap, the highest point of her challenge in England. She is set to cross the border into Scotland later today.

Mel is raising money for two charities which have supported her and many other sportspeople and adventurers with disabilities - Arctic One and Adaptive Grand Slam Foundation.
