Men’s grooming brand launches new business

This summer it announced more than £1 million of investment to expand overseas, then a deal with 800 Superdrug stores, now the Hawkins & Brimble is on the move again.

When we say 'on the move', we mean literally, with the Gloucestershire men's grooming brand revealing the latest addition to its fast-moving business - a mobile barbers service.

Launched this month, the converted long wheelbase van is aimed at the business market - especially for firm's with more than 50 staff, and those who are what the firm calls 'time poor'.

"We had been going to offices in London for some time with barbers cutting hair, so it was clear that 'time-poor' men needed barbers to come to them.

"The challenge was that is was logistically difficult to move heavy chairs and equipment, and so the Hawkins & Brimble Lounge was born," said Stephen Shortt, founder and chief executive officer of the Cheltenham-headquartered operation.

Available across Gloucestershire and the capital, the service will also consider corporate days and social events like weddings.

Treatments include haircuts, washes, beard trims, clipper cuts, and fades. Companies can hire the van for full days and repeat bookings.

In June Punchline reported how Hawkins & Brimble had secured a £1.3 million investment to help establish itself in USA, China, Australia and the Middle East.

It predicted venturing into new international markets could increase turnover from £3 million to £5 million by the same time next year.

Then earlier this month (October) the brand also announced it was set to launch in 800 Superdrug stores - the firm's biggest wholesale deal to date.

Its range, including products such as shaving cream, beard oil, daily moisturisers and hair pomades, was due to go on sale from October 14, with three products stocked in 800 stores, two products in 600 stores and the full 13-piece range in 375 stores.
