Gloucestershire house sellers face an 85-day wait to find a buyer

For anyone thinking of selling their home, the countdown to Christmas is on.

Tomorrow (September 16) marks 100 days to Christmas Day, and the latest Rightmove data shows it's currently taking 85 days for homeowners to find a buyer in Gloucestershire, and that's before conveyancing even begins.

With new zero carbon homes underway in Gloucestershire at Tetbury and Whitminster, Newland Homes is reminding homeowners that now is the time to act if they want to be settled in a new pad by Christmas.

A homeowner looking to sell in the Tetbury area currently faces a wait of 85 days before securing a buyer, according to Rightmove. Over the last year, this wait peaked at 127 days in February 2025, equivalent to just over 18 weeks.

In Whitminster the pace has been faster, with a buyer typically secured in 52 days over the last year. Crucially, these figures only cover the time a property is first marketed for sale through to going under offer. Conveyancing adds several more weeks, meaning anyone hoping to move before Christmas is already up against the clock.

Newland Homes says its part exchange scheme could offer a timely solution. By helping to facilitate the purchase of a homeowner's existing property, part exchange removes the wait to find a buyer and allows the house selling process to move straight into conveyancing.

Marcus Evans, sales & marketing director at Newland Homes, said: "Finding a buyer for your home can take up to 18 weeks locally and for those hoping to move before Christmas that can be a real barrier.

"Part exchange offers certainty and saves valuable time at a stage when the countdown to Christmas is already short. It gives people a realistic chance of putting up their tree and celebrating the festive season in a brand new, energy-efficient zero carbon home."

Thanks to cutting-edge renewable technologies including solar panels, air source heat pumps, and advanced insulation systems, the homes at The Limes in Tetbury and Upton's Garden in Whitminster create as much prime energy as they need. They are 'A' rated for both energy efficiency and environmental impact, achieving the top possible rating.

A mix of two to five-bedroom homes are available across the two developments, many of which are already built and ready to move in to.

Prices at The Limes start from £295,000 for a two-bedroom detached coach house and from £595,000 for a four-bedroom detached home at Upton's Garden.

Tailor-made appointments of each of the developments are available daily, please call 01666 719069 to tour The Limes or 01452 645510 for Upton's Garden.
