Gloucestershire hospice reveals new sponsor

Staff at Capita in Bishop's Cleeve are helping a hospice charity to shine as the main sponsor of its Starlight Hike fundraiser.

The outsourcing company will support Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court's flagship fundraising event on 21 October, as headline sponsor.

It will also enter a team of participants in the walk and provide volunteers to help marshal the event.

Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice's annual 10km Starlight Hike attracts hundreds of supporters from right across the county.

Capita's sponsorship will make sure the event raises as much money as possible to be invested directly into providing specialist hospice care at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court, home to the only inpatient unit in Gloucestershire providing around the clock specialist palliative care.

Nikki Moss, customer service manager at Capita, said: "We run an active charity support programme and wanted to work with a local charity to give something back to the local community which we are part of.

"As the local hospice for Gloucestershire, many of our staff hold Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice close to their hearts, having had friends or family cared for there.

"We knew it was the right thing to do to support the hospice in this way, making sure that wonderful care can continue."

"Sponsoring Starlight Hike will help raise awareness of the amazing facilities offered at the hospice, whilst helping to address the increasing challenges faced in continuing to provide specialist care for local families in our community.

"We'll invest our time, money and skills to support the event and we're really excited about making it a real night to remember for all who take part."

The Starlight Hike is the highlight of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court's fundraising calendar, and it is hoped that the event will raise more than £30,000 for local hospice care this year.

Matt Reay, events fundraiser at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said: "We're thrilled Capita have generously agreed to sponsor our event.

"Without their support it would be very difficult to put on Starlight Hike, which is our flagship fundraising event raising vital funds towards the £2million target we must raise every year to continue providing our care.

"Starlight Hike is a really moving and uplifting event and we're looking forward to working with Capita on putting on a great event raising funds so our specialist hospice care can continue supporting many more local families."

As part of the £12 adult registration fee, each participant will receive a Starlight Hike T-shirt, goody bag and fundraising support. Families of four and teams of six can also register for £48 and £72.
