Gloucestershire firm wins national award for product innovation

Cheltenham-based manufacturer ADEY have celebrated picking up a prestigious award.

At the fifth annual Commissioning Specialists Association Awards in London, ADEY's commercial water testing services, MALDI-ToF instrument was named Product Innovation of the Year.

It beat competition from six other finalists to scoop the prize - including another ADEY innovation, their MagnaClean DRX filter.

The winning innovation is a UK Accreditation Service approved system for instant microbiological testing of water samples.

Samples taken can be tested and instantly identified for genus and species for contaminents such as Legionella and Pseudeomonas.

Nick Barsby, ADEY's Commercial Water Testing manager, said: "The MALDI-ToF equipment represents a significant investment for ADEY so to be recognised with this award is fantastic.

"Commercial Water Testing forms part of a range of commercial products and services that help our customers to achieve the best in safety, efficiency and lifespan of a water system.

"The major benefit of MALDI-ToF is that it allows our customers to take action on positive results and start rectifying issues before other labs have even confirmed the problem exists.

"By showing the species of bacteria, we are also helping customers discover secondary contamination issues. Where traditional techniques report Pseudomonas species, we can identify the exact strain on each sample received."

ADEY employ more than 100 staff from their head office on Gloucester Road in Cheltenham.
