Major construction conference to take place in Gloucestershire this week

Anyone who is anyone from the world of construction is due to gather at Gloucester Rugby's Kingsholm stadium on Wednesday (June 26) for the biggest conference of its kind of the year.

In fact the gathering - part conference and partly a chance for anyone, of all ages, to get in front of the cross-section of businesses at the heart of the county's construction sector - could be the biggest of its kind ever.

Such is the momentum of the Constructing Excellence Gloucestershire group that all 30 stands were sold out well in advance and the list of firm's ready to talk to guests about the industry and network is impressive.

It is a chance for those who want a career in the sector to find out more to those already established to make new contacts and renew existing ones - and then there is the early evening run of keynote speakers.

This year's event, for which Punchline is the media partner, also leans strongly towards cyber and technology with names involved including Bamboo Technology, EG Carter & Company, Quattro Design Architects, BPE Solicitors, Sanctus Training, Brace Creative, Barnwood Construction, Kier Construction, Crowe UK, Tyler Grange, Vitruvius, HCR Law and many more.

"We are one of the largest, fastest-growing, most robust and thriving construction focused groups across the South West.

"Throughout the past 16 years, the club has stood to represent the interests of the construction sector, and act as a regional hub of the Constructing Excellence South West and national Constructing Excellence organisation, which has been set up with the aim of promoting best practice in the construction industry at a local level," said Kevin Harris, chairman of Constructing Excellence Gloucestershire.

"It is easy to focus on the immense change that is occurring on a global scale, some of which has without doubt impacted on the construction industry.

"But despite the unpredictability of the political world, Constructing Excellence Gloucestershire has continued to grow and flourish and play its part locally, regionally and nationally."

He added: "It's great to see that we can offer a most amazing network for the future, particularly for those in their early career, where they can enhance their knowledge, skills and experience so they can move forward in what is an exciting industry and become the future leaders of construction in the South West."

More than 200 are expected to attend the event, which is due to take place from 3pm to 8pm.

From 5.30pm speakers are expected to take to the floor, including Jeremy Williamson, Cheltenham Development Task Force - on the subject of the Cheltenham Cyber Hub, Adam Starkey, businessman and GFirst LEP member, described as a Futurist - on the subject of the future of construction and event sponsors Bamboo Technology - on the subject of cyber and connectivity.

A exhibitors and visitors to the conference are asked to register for event tickets through the CE Glos Website (see the link below).

Due to take place on Wednesday, June 26, the event is free to attend. Click here to find out more: Annual Conference: Cyber and Technology in Construction.
