Chief Constable Rod Hansen has released the following statement to communities in Gloucestershire following the fatal shooting of Chris Kaba by a Metropolitan Police Officer in London.

"I am aware of the pain and distress that is being felt, particularly in our black communities, around the fatal shooting of Mr Chris Kaba in London. My thoughts are with Mr Kaba's family and friends at this time.
"While it would not be appropriate for me to say anything that could prejudice the independent investigation that is ongoing, I would encourage anyone in our county with concerns to contact myself or my neighbourhood policing teams so that we can gauge how our communities are feeling and have an opportunity to address those concerns.
"I would also like to reiterate the Constabulary's and my own personal commitment to addressing racial inequality within policing and society more widely.
"We are fully committed to implementing the national race action plan, addressing disproportionality in our policing services and increasing representation within the organisation.
"If you have any concerns and want to know more about our policing approach in the Gloucestershire, please make contact with us. You can find out who your local Neighbourhood Policing Team is and how to contact them here.
"If you are interested in joining our Community Legitimacy Panel and sharing your views and experiences please visit our website."
