Building work on target at Docks site

Work is well underway on a new development at Gloucester Docks.
A forgotten piece of the jigsaw that is the ongoing redevelopment of the waterside area is in the hands of Gloucestershire firm Mark Holland Construction.
The Cheltenham-headquartered business is working on the "challenging" site sandwiched between buildings and wrapping around the Tall Ships public house at the Southgate Street entrance to the Docks.
"It is all going well and should be complete in the Spring of 2019," said Mark Holland, who runs the business and was involved in the nearby and much-admired redevelopment of Grade II-listed Albion House.
"This is a challenging site. We are using 100 per cent local labour and we really appreciate the support of everyone near to the site, particularly the Tall Ships, and the residents nearby.
"We have had a lot of support from the Quays owner Peel and Paul James (leader of the city council) has also been very supportive."
The plans were approved for the building of "a 3.5 storey apartment building, comprising of a total of 12 residential units with ground floor parking and access".
"It also includes the refurbishment of four town houses fronting Southgate Street as well," said Mr Holland.
The shop-fronts to the left of the front of the Tall Ships and facing Southgate Street have fallen into disrepair.
The development is being carried out for Leckhampton-based Cape Homes Ltd, which is also part of a stable of companies which falls under Mark Holland's wing.
