Gloucestershire building projects scoop prizes

Four building projects in the county have come away with prizes from the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) West of England Regional Awards.

The winners were picked from thousands of projects nominated by councils in the region. Cotswold District Council's Building Control Team saw an incredible three of the projects that it nominated for awards come away with a prize.

Elsewhere in the county, Cleeve School's project team of Kier Construction, Roberts Limbrick and Gloucestershire County Council was highly commended in the best educational building category, nominated by Cheltenham & Tewkesbury Building Control Service.

Andrew Jones, service leader, Cotswold District Council, said: "We are proud to have been closely involved in the winning projects. The LABC Building Excellence Awards showcase buildings and design teams that have had to work with complex technical construction issues and building site constraints. The awards also celebrate the success of innovative, creative solutions across the numerous regions in the West of England so there was a lot of stiff competition."

The winning entries in the Cotswold District Council area were:

Winner: LABC Residential Construction Professional of the Year - Martin Wright of Martin Wright, Conservation Builders Ltd (pictured)

Highly Commended: Best High Volume New Housing Development - Cotswold Gardens, Broadway Road, Willersey. Project Team: Speller Metcalfe, Eric Cole Ltd, Blue Cedar Homes,

Highly Commended: Best Large Commercial Project - The Alliston Centre, Stroud Road, Cirencester. Project Team: Midas Construction Ltd, SRA Architects, Royal Agricultural University
