Gloucestershire Brexit Conference

What are your priorities for the Brexit negotiations, and how will it impact your business, community group or organisation?

An exciting conference planned for Stroud in March will give people the chance to find out the latest on the negotiations and put your point of view from some of those at the heart of the process.

The Gloucestershire Brexit Conference will be held at Forest Green Rovers Football Club from 1pm to 4.30pm on Friday 9 March with free entry.

The cross-party event is hosted by Clare Moody, Labour MEP for the South West and Gibraltar, along with David Drew MP, Shadow Minister for Environment, Rural Affairs and Food, and Julie Girling MEP for the South West and Gibraltar.

"We need to hear from businesses and industry about what their priorities are as the negotiations move onto trade talks," said Clare.

"Access to labour and future customs arrangements are but two imperatives that spring to mind, and we're sure that there are many more."

There will be presentations from William Fraser, NFU County Adviser, Gloucestershire, Matt Griffith, Director of Policy, Business West, Kelly Andrews, Regional Officer, GMB Trade Union and Adam Starkey, Chair, Green Gourmet Foods.

Delegates will have the opportunity to take part in the question and answer session with Clare Moody, MEP, Dr David Drew MP, and Julie Girling MEP, chaired by Ian Mean, Gloucestershire Director for Business West and former Editor of the Gloucester Citizen and Western Daily Press newspapers.

"It is vital for politicians at home, in Westminster and on the continent to know that areas like Gloucestershire are engaged in a conversation about what would serve our county, and ultimately the country, best," said David Drew, MP for Stroud.

"We need to be thinking about the immediate future, but also what our area may look like in 10, 20, and even 30 years' time - what are the major industries of employment? Where do we expect growth and - sadly - recession to take place? How do businesses need to adapt to the challenges ahead?"

The Gloucestershire Brexit Conference runs from 1pm to 4.30pm on Friday 9 March and is supported by Business West and the S+D Group in the European Parliament.

Entry is free, but people need to register in advance online here.
