Gloucester turns back the clock and goes retro

Dust off your drain pipe trousers and pull on your winkle picker shoes  - Gloucester's going retro this summer.

Now in its fourth year the Festival of Living History takes place in the city centre on Saturday August 25.

Gloucester Goes Retro will see the four main gate streets turned back in time - Westgate 1900 - 1949; Northgate 1950s; Eastgate Street 1960s and Southgate Street 1970 up to modern times.

The streets will also be lined with hundreds of historic classic cars with local music, fashion and reenactors all taking part. There will people in period fashions and members of the original cast of TV's 'Allo 'Allo will be present.

Kings Square will play host to live bands and singers with a dance arena while Kings Walk Shopping Centre will pay tribute to the city's industrial past with an exhibition by ex-employees of famous local firms.

The event is free raising money for several charities and also helping to give local businesses a boost.
