Gloucester Rugby renames 1873 lounge

Kingsholm's exclusive 1873 Lounge is getting a new name.

The first-floor hospitality area will be rechristened the Cooper Associates 1873 Club Lounge to mark a new partnership for Gloucester Rugby.

It has signed a deal with Taunton-based finance firm, Cooper Associates Group, which is due to open a new office in Cheltenham in 2023.

It specialises in mortgage advice, wealth management and accountancy, and sought out the partnership as part of its expansion into Gloucestershire.

It will see Cooper Associates Group become Gloucester Rugby's partner - across both the men's and Gloucester-Hartpury women's teams.

Its name will now become synonymous with the lounge, which sits in the Malvern Tyres Stand at Kingsholm Stadium and was named 1873 as a nod to the year the club was formed.

The exclusive space has played host to the likes of 50 Shades Of Grey actor Jamie Dornan.

Huw Warren, sales director at Gloucester Rugby, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Cooper Associates Group to the Gloucester Rugby family.

"Cooper Associates Group researched extensively to find the right partner in the region and selected Gloucester Rugby to partner and launch their brand.

"We feel that our shared interest in the local area makes Cooper Associates Group a natural partner for us. We are excited to explore activation opportunities and grow the partnership for years to come."

Samantha Jackson, CEO of Cooper Associates Group, said: "We look forward to developing our commercial partnership and building a relationship with Gloucester Rugby's supporters, as we prepare to open our new Cheltenham office in January.

"Cooper Associates Group is delighted to play a small part in supporting the long-term ambitions of Gloucester Rugby and Gloucester-Hartpury, both on and off the pitch.

"We wish the teams and their supporters the best of luck for the remainder of the season."
