Gloucester manufacturer set for expansion

A Hempsted manufacturer of components for the car industry has applied for planning permission for a workshop extension and reception refurbishment.

With expanding production Hydro Components Ltd, formally known as Sapa Components UK Ltd has applied to Gloucester City Council for consent to build an extension to the existing Hempsted factory building to provide additional workshop area covering 177 square meters.

The company which employs 110 full time staff at its Gloucester site, specialises in forming and mechanically fabricating components by pressing mainly aluminium and stainless steel. It offers fully integrated in-house production and finishing.

Although the site is within an area at risk of flooding, the impact caused by the extension is considered to be minimal and will not increase the flood risk in surrounding areas. The design and materials used for the extension will match the existing workshop building and will fill in a gap to the right-hand side of the reception building.

The facility is based at Spinnaker Park, off Spinnaker Road, near to both Gloucester Football Club and Hempsted Recycling Centre.
