Gloucester man charged with murder

A 34-year-old Gloucester man has appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates Court today (July 4) charged with the murder of Mohammed Nadeem on Friday (July 1).

Liam Hopson of Barton Street, Gloucester, wore a grey top in court and was flanked by two prison officers in the dock.

Hopson only spoke to confirm his name and date of birth.

Prosecutor Mai Li told the court that Mr Hopson could not enter a plea at this stage of proceedings as it was indictable only and that he was not able to apply for bail.

The court was told the emergency services were called to an address in the Barton area of Gloucester shortly after 9am on Friday, July 1. Mr Nadeem in his fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

District Judge Nicholas Wattam remanded Mr Hopson in custody until he appears at Bristol Crown Court on July 6.
